Arsenal Chiefs Eyeing Martinez Or Klopp As Eventual Replacement For Wenger

Arsenal are already starting to make plans for when Arsene Wenger eventually leaves with Roberto Martinez and Jurgen Klopp heading the list of candidates

Arsene Wenger is expected to sign a new deal at Arsenal but the club are already starting to make plans for when the Frenchman does eventually leave with Roberto Martinez and Jurgen Klopp heading the list of candidates, according to the Telegraph.

Arsene’s future has come under even more scrutiny following our 6-0 thrashing by Chelsea at the weekend with a growing number of fans feeling it’s time he now steps down when his contract runs out at the end of the season.

However, the report claims the boss has already agreed in principle to extend his stay at the Emirates by at least another two years, but will wait until the end of the season before making a final decision on signing the extension.

Wenger is only going to stay if he feels he is taking the team forward and failure to win the FA Cup and finish in the top four could see him end his 18-year reign in north London. We are rightfully the odds-on favourites to lift the FA Cup and are still on course to finish in the top four, at least, this season so the likelihood is Arsene will commit to another contract.

But it’s going to be short-term and the Telegraph claim Arsenal chiefs have already starting making plans for when the 64-year-old leaves with Everton manager Roberto Martíínez and Borussia Dortmund’s Jürgen Klopp the leading candidates.

I think it’s safe to say Klopp would be many fans first choice as the next manager of Arsenal but we won’t be the only club interested in his services if he does decide to leave Dortmund. Likewise with Martinez, he’s growing a reputation as one of the most exciting young managers in Europe and we could face stiff competition if we decide he’s the man to replace Wenger when the time comes.

It looks like the boss will be staying on for at least another two years and I think he’s earned the right to have a real go at winning the league next season. He’s taken us through the hard times while we built the new stadium so it’s only fair he now gets to reap the rewards and spend the money we’ve now got in the bank.

But I only want him to stay IF he’s going to spend the money he has available and bring in the quality of players we clearly need to compete with the best. If we’re going to endure another frustrating summer of inactivity like last year (Ozil aside), then I think I’m not the only one who feels it’s time to say goodbye and bring in a young manager with fresh ideas.

Do you think it’s time Arsene left? Who would you like to see come in? Klopp or Martinez? Share your views below.

I agree in its entirety with your comments.

I would clearly prefer Klopp. He is a by far better manager than he gets credit for. Also if Wenger does not spend he should go.

I agree entirely with the views expressed by the writer Wenger is no more competitive. He is not hungry for success. We need either Klopp or Martinez to lead the team next season. We are tired of heart aches that Wenger is inflicting on loyal fans. Away with Wenger. We want a team that will rule Europe. Give us Klopp.

I prefer klopp, if wenger call it quite, also we need new idea, wenger has try so much that no body can compear to he is a man of his word he always faithfu and loyer to our dear club and help us to manage wot we av, from zero to euro is not easy. Asene Wenger is a type of a man that i neva see in my life, a man that u can discrible as a dusbin were every body trow detin things he as receive a lot of insult bcos of the progres of this our dear club. Right now i dont see wenger living but my own orbservation is that we need someone who will give us new idea new charlenge who can shout and displine those players and can bring new players that can charlenge the one we av right now so that we can win laurels. Even with the players we av now they can stil win sometin is just that they need new tactic. So my candidate is klopp bcos is goin to be easy 4 him to feet in to our partern, and this guy is very sand tacticaly and he play mothern football as well. So why not if wenger deside to quity emirate bcos i no that is until he deside no body can sack him and is not deserve sakin. Finaly fans i can decieve u am not see wenger resign now to were, pls just let us focus on FA cup so that we can see sometin to celebrate on since nine years ago, GUNNERS TILL ENTERNITY

Wenger is done, he has nothing left to offer apart from blame. He blames the game today, fixture, refs, fans, playes, media, other teams, fifa and now time for kickoff. Never himself, all i can say is it’s over due we would have changed managers when Chelsea and ManU changed but now they are growing stronger whilest we remain stagnant.

I think wenger knows what to do if he really wants to win trophies… He is just being stupid and stubborn.

I am for Roberto Martinez. Mainly because he is plying his trade in the Prem, not in Germany where 2 teams dominate, they play 34 league games and have a month off at Christmas. It would take Klopp 2 full seasons to acclimatize to the Prem.

Martinez has what Wenger has never had – tactical nous. Wenger’s prepares his teams to go out and play, and not to win. That is, they play the same way whether at Chelsea or Crystal Palace, and you can’t win a title that way.

It’s going to take more than spending big to win things, and I would not be surprised if we do not win the FA cup.

Surprised that Diego Simeone’s name hasn’t been thrown into the equation. The guy is doing an OUTSTANDING job at Atletico Madrid. Bring him to Arsenal, and make sure Diego Costa is on the same flight.
