Manchester United will take on Everton on Sunday afternoon as David Moyes returns to Goodison Park for the first time since leaving in the summer. Here’s our predicted team for the game.

United are well rested having not played last weekend and they have been handed an injury boost ahead of the game with the news that Wayne Rooney is fit and available to face his former side.

The striker picked up a toe injury during the first leg against Bayern Munich and had to take a pain killing injection to make it through the second leg, but he’s trained all this week and is likely to spearhead the attack with Robin van Persie still in Holland continuing his recovery from a knee injury.

Rafael is also still out so Chris Smalling could continue at right-back while Phil Jones will be favourite to start alongside Nemanja Vidic. Jonny Evans is back in training but he may not be risked from the start just yet.

Michael Carrick is almost certain to start and could be joined by Darren Fletcher in midfield if Moyes decides to try and stifle Everton’s passing game. Marouane Fellaini is fit again but we think Moyes will go with his fellow Scot.

Danny Welbeck is also likely to get the nod over the likes of Shinji Kagawa and Adnan Januzaj due to his superior work-rate, which will be important to counteract the hosts adventurous full-backs, while Antonio Valencia and Juan Mata should make up the attack.

Here’s the side we think Moyes will select:
