Liverpool take on Norwich City at Carrow Road on Sunday afternoon looking to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table to five points.
The Reds have been handed a major boost after Chelsea’s shock 2-1 loss to Sunderland earlier this evening so the Merseysiders have the opportunity to further tighten their grip at the top with a win.
Brendan Rodgers side installed themselves as title favourites after a crucial 3-2 win over Manchester City last weekend to make it ten wins on the bounce.
Liverpool should be confident of extending that run to eleven games as they have an excellent recent record against Norwich, having scored five goals against them in each of their last three meetings.
The Canaries currently sit just two points above the relegation zone after a 1-0 defeat to Fulham last weekend and face a daunting final four fixtures with games against Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal to following tomorrow’s clash.
Stand-in boss Neil Adams knows the home games are going to be vital as he bids to stave off the threat of relegation and he’ll be desperate to pull off a shock by picking up a positive result on Sunday.
The hosts have no fresh injury worries to contend with but Adams may opt to make a couple of changes from the side that lost at Craven Cottage last weekend.
Striker Gary Hooper and midfielder Wes Hoolahan are likely to be recalled while club captain Sebastian Bassong is also pushing for a recall.
Liverpool are expected to be without striker Daniel Sturridge for the game after he limped off with a hamstring problem against City last weekend. With a crunch game against Chelsea on the horizon, Rodgers is unlikely to take any risks with the striker.
Midfielder Jordan Henderson starts a three-match ban following his late sending off last week, so Joe Allen and Lucas Leiva will be hoping for a recall.
Jose Enrique remains out with a knee injury so Jon Flanagan will continue to deputise at left-back.
Luis Suarez: With Sturridge likely to be missing, the Reds will be looking to their star man to provide the goal threat in attack. With an astonishing 11 goals in just 5 matches against Norwich, the hosts will be dreading lining up against him tomorrow.
Norwich 1-3 Liverpool: Norwich will be fighting for their lives but Liverpool should have way too much firepower for them to handle, even without Sturridge in the team.
