Wenger ‘Makes Enquiry’ For £25m-Rated Chelsea + Liverpool Target
Arsenal have make contact with the agent of £25m-rated Chelsea and Liverpool target Antoine Griezmann about a potential move to the Emirates this summer.
As we approach the business end of the season clubs are starting to make plans for the summer transfer market so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Arsenal are linked with Antoine Griezmann.
Arsenal have made contact with the agent of £25m-rated Chelsea and Liverpool target Antoine Griezmann about a potential move to the Emirates this summer, according to Goal.
The 23-year-old has been in excellent form for Real Sociedad this season, scoring 16 league goals in his 31 appearances so far, and his impressive displays have attracted interest from the Premier League.
Liverpool and Chelsea have been linked with the versatile attacker in recent months but it seems Arsenal have now stolen a march on their rivals with Goal claiming the Gunners have already made contact with the players representatives to discuss a potential move to North London this summer.
Arsene Wenger confirmed on Friday night that he’s set to extend his 18-year stay at the Emirates and it seems he’s made Griezmann one of his top targets after having the attacker scouted on several occasions over the course of the season.
The Gunners led the way in the Premier League for much of the season but the lack of depth in attack caught up with them when a number of key players picked up injuries and Wenger is expected to bring in reinforcements this summer.
A player like Griezmann, who can play anywhere across the front three positions, would certainly give the Arsenal boss plenty of options in attack and he’d bring some much-needed pace to the team, with the North Londoners criticised for bring too pedestrian at times this season.
However, the report suggests it will take a bid in the region of £25m to persuade Sociedad to cash-in, and it remains to be seen whether the often frugal Frenchman will be willing to meet such a figure, while there is also the possibility that Chelsea and Liverpool could try and hijack the move.
