Chelsea Eye Triple Swoop On Real Madrid

Chelsea are eyeing a triple swoop on Real Madrid for Sami Khedira, Isco and Raphael Varane but will refuse to use midfielder Ramires as part of any deals

As we approach the opening of the summer window clubs will be intensifying their efforts in the transfer market so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Chelsea are linked with a triple swoop on Real Madrid.

Sami-Khedira

Chelsea are eyeing a triple swoop on Real Madrid for Sami Khedira, Isco and Raphael Varane but will refuse to use midfielder Ramires as part of any potential deals, according to reports.

Madrid have been strongly linked with a move for Ramires in recent weeks and the Express claim the Spanish giants are hoping to take advantage of Chelsea’s interest in Cesc Fabregas to land the midfielder in a £25m deal.

It’s also understood that Real boss Carlo Ancelotti is ready to include either Isco or Khedira to try and tempt the Blues in to parting company with the Brazilian international if a straight cash deal isn’t of interest.

However, Jose Mourinho is adamant Ramires won’t be sold this summer and it appears by offering Isco and Khedira as part-exchange, Madrid have simply alerted the West Londoners to their availability, as the newspaper suggests that Mourinho is a huge fan of the duo and is now eyeing moves for both players.

With David Luiz and Frank Lampard set to leave this summer, Chelsea need to strengthen their midfield options and Isco and Khedira would be excellent additions. Isco has failed to establish himself as a vital first team member since making the move from Malaga 12 months ago and the 22-year-old would give Mourinho plenty of options in attack if he were to make the move to Stamford Bridge.

Khedira on the other hand was a regular in Ancelotti’s starting eleven before a serious knee injury sidelined him for the entire second half of last season and it seems the 27-year-old has now fallen out of favour in his absence and could be on the market this summer. The German was a close to Mourinho during his time at the Bernabeu so it wouldn’t be a surprise if the pair were reunited should the defensive midfielder leave Madrid over the coming weeks.

And if Chelsea are successful in landing Isco and Khedira they could be part of a stunning triple swoop as the Express claim Mourinho still hasn’t given up hope of landing defender Raphael Varane.

The Blues have been tipped to make a move for the French centre-back as Mourinho wants to strengthen his defence with January signing Kurt Kouma set to be loaned out again, and the Chelsea boss has previously admitted his admiration for Varane having been the one to take him to Madrid from Lyon back in 2011.

However, the 21-year-old has insisted he won’t consider any offer from Chelsea until after the World Cup. He said last week:

“I’m not thinking about interest from Chelsea right now.

“There’s a World Cup to prepare for; now’s not the time to dwell on that sort of stuff.” Varane is quoted as saying by the Express.

Varane is certainly one of the most promising young defenders in the world and would be a superb long-term signing for Chelsea, but it’s going to be extremely difficult to persuade Madrid to sell.

Of the three players on Mourinho’s radar, Khedira is probably the most attainable while Varane is arguably the least likely to leave, but money talks these days and every player has his price, so if Roman Abramovich is prepared to dig deep, you just never know.
