Transfer News: Radamel Falcao Set For Move
Premier League trio Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City have been put on alert as Colombian hitman Radamel Falcao looks set to quit Monaco this summer.
As we approach the opening of the summer window clubs will be intensifying their efforts in the transfer market so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Radamel Falcao looks set to leave Monaco.
Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City have been put on alert as Radamel Falcao looks set to quit Monaco this summer, according to reports today.
The Colombian hitman joined the big-spending Ligue 1 outfit from Atletico Madrid just 12 months ago but a serious knee injury restricted him to just 19 appearances during his debut season and subsequently saw him ruled out of the World Cup finals in Brazil.
Despite his disappointing first year at the club, the Mirror are reporting today that Falcao now wants to quit Monaco this summer and a whole host of Premier League clubs are being linked with potential moves.
The newspaper suggests that Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City will all be in the running for Falcao’s signature but it remains to be seen what Monaco’s asking price will be and whether any of the trio will be willing to meet it.
With Chelsea understood to be on the verge of signing Diego Costa, it would be something of a surprise if Jose Mourinho was to spend big on another striker but he might just not be able to resist if a player of Falcao’s ability comes on the market.
Liverpool will certainly be looking for a world class striker if Luis Suarez leaves over the coming weeks, with Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid hotly tipped to lure the Uruguayan international away from Anfield this summer, and Falcao would be the ideal replacement.
Manchester City’s name always crops up when a big-money player is available but it wouldn’t surprise you if Manuel Pellegrini was in for Falcao this summer, although he’d most likely have to sell at least one of Alvaro Negredo, Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko or Sefan Jovetic to make room for the Colombian.
So all three English clubs could be possible new destinations for Falcao this summer if he does end up leaving Monaco. However, before fans get too excited at the prospect of him joining their club, the Daily Star are reporting that the striker has ALREADY rejected the advances of all three Premier League clubs after they made enquiries as Falcao has supposedly got his heart set on a move to Real Madrid.
Whether there is any truth in that remains to be seen but it’s going to be interesting to see where the striker ends up this summer if he does force his way out of Monaco.
