Man Utd Set To Table €25m Bid + Tempt German International With Bumper Contract
Manchester United are set to make a last ditch attempt to sign Mats Hummels by tempting Borussia Dortmund with a €25million offer, according to reports.
The summer transfer window is now open for business and it’s expected to be a busy few weeks as managers strengthen their squads ahead of next season, so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Man Utd are ready to bid for Mats Hummels.
Manchester United are set to make a last attempt to sign Mats Hummels by tempting Borussia Dortmund with a €25million offer, according to reports.
United have been hot on the trail of the German international defender for some time but have so far been unable to persuade Dortmund to cash in on the hugely talented centre-back.
However, the Metro are citing reports coming out of Germany that claim United chiefs haven’t given up hope of luring the 25-year-old to Old Trafford this summer and are ready to make a final €25m (£20m) offer to the Bundesliga giants.
If the bid is enough to convince Dortmund to sell, the newspaper suggests that the Red Devils will then look to tempt Hummels with a bumper contract as it’s believed he is content at the Westfalenstadion and it will take a huge offer to lure him away.
New United boss Louis van Gaal is on the look out for at least one centre-back after seeing Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand leave the club, and Hummels would certainly be an excellent signing.
The German has vast experience both at club level and at international level and he’s widely regarded as one of the best centre-backs in Europe after excelling with Dortmund over the past few seasons. He was virtually ever-present in the team that won successive Bundesliga titles in 2011 and 2012, and also played a key role in helping the club to the Champions League final in 2013.

However, as good a signing as he’d be, it remains to be seen whether United’s proposed £20m offer will be enough to convince Dortmund to cash-in and even if they do agree a fee, they then have to persuade the player to end his seven-year association with the club, which isn’t going to be easy.
