Khedira Agent Responds To Arsenal & Bayern Munich Move Reports
The agent of Sami Khedira has dismissed reports the midfielder is in talks with Bayern Munich but he refused to do likewise when quizzed about Arsenal.
The summer transfer window is now open for business and it’s expected to be a busy few weeks as managers strengthen their squads ahead of next season, so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Gooner Mac brings us the latest on Sami Khedira.
The agent of Sami Khedira has dismissed reports suggesting the midfielder is in talks over a move to Bayern Munich but he refused to do likewise when quizzed about interest from Arsenal, according to reports in Germany.
Khedira has been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates in recent weeks after emerging as a key target for boss Arsene Wenger as he looks to bring in a long-term replacement for Mikel Arteta this summer.
As he has just entered the final year of his contract, the German international is widely tipped to leave the Bernabeu after rejecting a contract extension offer and reports earlier this month claimed Arsenal were closing in on his signature after supposedly agreeing a €29m fee with Real Madrid.
The move to north London then appeared to stall due to Khedira’s excessive wage demands and Spanish newspaper Marca reported on Wednesday that the 27-year-old had held talks with Pep Guardiola over a potential free transfer move to Bayern Munich next summer.
However, it appears those reports are wide of the mark as one of the midfielders agents, Jorg Neubauer, has now been quoted in German outlet Sport1 as saying that no talks with Bayern have taken place.
“There have been no talks with Bayern,” Neubauer said
Neubauer was then quizzed about reported interest from Arsenal but he appeared less inclined to dismiss the speculation, only joking that if he had to comment on all transfer rumours he’s have no time left to work. When asked for his thoughts on links with a move to Arsenal, he told Sport1:
“If I would do it constantly, I would no longer have time to work,”
Obviously the fact the agent denied holding talks with Bayern but refused to do likewise when asked about Arsenal has only fuelled speculation that we are in negotiations over a possible move for the midfielder, but it’s impossible to know exactly what’s going on behind the scenes.
Khedira has been enjoying an extended break back in Germany after his World Cup exploits but is due back in Spain on Monday to begin pre-season training with Madrid and when asked if the player will turn up amid all the speculation over his future, Neubauer said “of course”.
So I’d expect the German international to hold talks with Madrid officials when he returns to the club on Monday, which means we should have further developments on his future at some point next week.

I’m certain Arsene Wenger is interested but can’t see him agreeing to pay the reported salary Khedira is wanting, so unless he lowers his demands I don’t think we’ll see the player coming to the Emirates this summer. Let’s hope the boss can work his magic though, as Khedira would be an excellent signing.
