Manchester United Hope To Wrap Up €45m Deal By Next Weekend

Manchester United are hoping to have a deal to sign Juan Cuadrado wrapped up by next weekend with Louis van Gaal ready to meet Fiorentina’s €45m asking price

The summer transfer window is now well under way and managers are working hard to strengthen their squads ahead of next season, so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Man Utd close in on Barcelona target Juan Cuadrado.

Manchester United are hoping to have a deal to sign Juan Cuadrado wrapped up by next weekend with Louis van Gaal ready to meet Fiorentina’s €45m asking price, according to reports.

United have been strongly linked with a move for the Colombian international in recent months with van Gaal understood to have identified him as the perfect candidate to play as an attacking right wing-back in his new 3-5-2 formation.

Spanish giants Barcelona have also been credited with an interest in the 26-year-old this summer but United reportedly emerged as favourites after the players agent admitted last month that talks with the Catalans had stalled.

Further reports claim that the former Premier League champions have already seen a €40m (£32m) offer rejected with Fiorentina holding out for the full value of their €45m (£36m) asking price.

However, it looks like a deal could finally be on the cards with the Express suggesting that United are now ready to meet the Italians demands and hope to wrap up a deal by the time they welcome Swansea to Old Trafford next weekend.

Cuadrado has recently returned from holiday following his exploits at the World Cup, where he put in several impressive displays for Colombia, and it’s understood he’s due to hold crunch talks with Fiorentina bosses about his future this weekend.

It appears the Serie A club have not given up all hope of persuading him to stay as the Express claim they may offer him a lucrative five-year deal, but they will sell if the player makes clear he wants out and United are willing to meet their asking price.

Cuadrado has predominantly played as a winger in recent seasons and he chipped in with 15 goals in 43 appearances to help Fiorentina qualify for the Europa League last year, but he’s also capable of playing at right-back if needed so he’d be ideal for van Gaal’s new system at Old Trafford.
