The draw for the group stages of the Europa League took place this afternoon with Tottenham and Everton learning their fate.

Spurs booked their place in the draw with a comfortable 5-1 aggregate victory over AEL Limassol, with the North Londoners winning the second leg 3-0 at White Hart Lane last night.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men have been drawn in a tricky Group C that includes Besiktas, Partizan Belgrade and Greek minnows Asteras Tripolis.

Obviously Besiktas are the ones to watch with the Turkish outfit narrowly losing out to North London rivals Arsenal in their Champions League play off, so they are going to be Tottenham’s main competition for top-spot.

Having finished fifth in the Premier League last season, Everton didn’t have to navigate a qualifier and went straight into the main draw and they’ve been drawn in Group H along with Lille, Wolfsburg and Russian side Krasnodar.

The other British interest comes from Scotland with champions Celtic in Group D along with FC Salzburg, Dinamo Zagreb and FC Astra.

To confirm, the groups involving British teams are:

Group C

  • Tottenham
  • Besiktas
  • Partizan Belgrade
  • Asteras Tripolis

Group D

  • Celtic
  • Slazburg
  • Dinamo Zagreb
  • FC Astra

Group H

  • Everton
  • Lille
  • Wolfsburg
  • Krasnodar

All three will be confident of progressing to the knockout phase, but Everton have possibly the trickiest task as they will face Lille and Wolfsburg with both sides capable of an upset on their day.
