Chelsea Blow As Costa Ruled Out With Hamstring Injury

Chelsea are sweating on the fitness of star striker Diego Costa after he withdrew from the Spain squad with a hamstring injury, according to reports.

Costa was due to start for the Spaniard’s against Macedonia in their European Championship Group C qualifier on Monday night.

However, reports this evening claim the 25-year-old has been forced to withdraw after picking up a hamstring injury in training on Friday afternoon.

It’s not known how serious the injury is as yet but the news will come as a real worry to Blues boss Jose Mourinho, and Costa must now be considered a major doubt to take on Swansea City at Stamford Bridge next weekend.

Mourinho will be hoping the injury isn’t serious as Chelsea have some big games coming up with the Premier League leaders entertaining Schalke on Wednesday 17th before a crucial trip to the Etihad to face Manchester City the following Sunday.

Costa only made the move to West London this summer from Atletico Madrid but has settled immediately, scoring four goals in three games so far, so he’d be a huge miss if the Brazilian-born striker was ruled out for any period of time.
