By on September 13, 2014

Arsenal were held to a 2-2 draw by defending Premier League champions Manchester City in a thrilling game at the Emirates this afternoon.

City took the lead midway through the first half when Jesus Navas burst clear to set up Sergio Aguero who finished well at the near post. It took Arsenal a while to draw level but they did just that in the 63rd minute when Jack Wilshere finished off a superb move to make it 1-1.

Alexis Sanchez then put the hosts ahead with a stunning volley in the 74th minute but the Gunners couldn’t hold on to their lead as City equalised when Martin Demichelis was left free at a corner to head home for 2-2.

A draw was a fair result in what was a pulsating game that saw the post rattled three times with the visitors also correctly had a goal in the final minute ruled out for offside.
