[Video Goals] Man City 1-1 Chelsea: Lampard Denies Blues With Late Leveller

By on September 21, 2014

Frank Lampard came off the bench to score against Chelsea to rescue a 1-1 draw for 10-men Manchester City at the Etihad this afternoon.

City were reduced to 10 when Pablo Zabaleta was sent off for a second bookable offense following a tackle from behind on Diego Costa and it looked to have cost them when Eden Hazard found Andre Schurrle at the far post and the German tapped home for 0-1.

However, there was a sting in the tail as Lampard came off the bench to score a trademark goal and deny his former club the win as he volleyed home James Milners cross for 1-1 with just five minutes remaining.

The result sees Chelsea extend their lead at the top of the table to three points while City are sixth, five points off the pace.
