Liverpool Handed Fresh Injury Blow As Attacker Faces Month Out

Liverpool have suffered yet another injury blow with Lazar Markovic facing a month out with a muscle tear picked up playing for Serbia, according to reports.

Liverpool have suffered yet another injury blow with Lazar Markovic facing a month out with a muscle tear, according to the Daily Mail.

The 20-year-old started for Serbia during their 1-1 draw with Armenia in their Euro 2016 qualifier on Saturday night but limped off after just 25 minutes.

No official news has been released regarding the injury but the Mail claim it’s a muscle tear that could keep him on the sidelines for a month.

Markovic is now likely to be released by Serbia and head back to Merseyside to be assessed by Liverpool’s medical team to determine the exact nature of the problem, but the news will come as another blow to Brendan Rodgers.

The Reds boss is also sweating on the fitness of Dejan Lovren after the centre-back was forced out of Croatia’s clash with Bulgaria after picking up an abdominal injury in training last week.

Lovren is almost certain to miss Liverpool’s trip to Queens Park Rangers next weekend but there is a hope he could be fit to face Real Madrid three days later in their huge Champions League clash at Anfield.
