Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho has been in action for his country this afternoon as Brazil thrashed an under-strength Japan side 4-0 in a friendly in Singapore.

Coutinho was named among the subs by boss Dunga but came on just after half time and made an immediate impact, with the Reds youngster playing in Neymar to make it 2-0 in the 48th minute with a superb outside-of-the-boot throughball.

The 22-year-old went on to enjoy a fine run-out for the five-time World Cup winners and thankfully for Brendan Rodgers, he appeared to come through the match without picking up any sort of injury.

Brazil ended up 4-0 winners thanks to a sensational four-goal haul from Barcelona striker Neymar.
