Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Mesut Ozil could be back playing in just six weeks.

Ozil picked up a knee injury during our 2-0 defeat to Chelsea two weeks ago with the boss revealing that the playmaker felt a ‘crack’ just before half.

The 26-year-old was allowed to complete the ninety minutes and it wasn’t until the player reported for international duty that the full extent of the injury was revealed.

The German FA confirmed that following scans, Ozil had suffered a partial tear in his left knee ligament and was facing up to 12 weeks on the sidelines.

However, speaking at his pre-match press conference this morning ahead of our clash with Hull City, Wenger has revealed that Ozil could be back in just six weeks.

He told reporters:

It would be a major boost if Ozil could be playing again in just six weeks as it means he would be back for the start of December and fully fit for the busy festive period.

December and the New Year are always a hectic so it’s important to have a large squad available, and obviously a player of Mesut’s quality will be vital.

But it’s still wise to be cautious as this is Arsenal we’re talking about and injuries usually take far longer to heal than we anticipate, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Ozil is still on the sidelines come 2015.
