By on October 21, 2014

Chelsea took another step closer to qualification from Group G in the Champions League after thrashing Slovenian outfit Maribor 6-0 at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.

The Blues opened the scoring in the 13th minute when Loic Remy fired home a lovely left-footed effort before Didier Drogba made it 2-0 from the spot after replacing the injured French striker.

John Terry then slid home a Cesc Fabregas cross for 3-0 10 minutes later before Mitja Viler was unfortunate to put Eden Hazard’s cut-back through his own net for 4-0 just after the break.

Maribor then spurned their chance to get a consolation when they missed a spot kick before Hazard added a late double, one from the penalty spot, to make the final score 6-0.
