By on October 28, 2014

Chelsea edged past Shrewsbury Town 2-1 on Tuesday night to book their place in the quarter finals of the Capital One Cup.

After a goalless first 45 minutes, Didier Drogba opened the scoring just after the break when he fired into the bottom corner from a Mohamed Salah knock-down for 0-1.

The hosts then drew level when Andy Mangan came off the bench to poke home from close range following a corner in the 76th minute. However, the Premier League leaders regained the lead just 5 minutes later when Jermaine Grandison put Willian’s cross through his own net under pressure from Drogba for 1-2.

Shrewsbury rallied late on but the Blues held on book their place in the hat for the quarter final draw.
