Liverpool’s disappointing recent form continued as they slumped to a 1-0 defeat to Newcastle United at St James’ Park on Saturday afternoon.
After a dire opening forty five minutes, the hosts were gifted the lead when Liverpool defender Alberto Moreno failed to clear Moussa Sissoko’s cut back and the ball fell straight to Ayoze Perez who fired past Simon Mignolet for 1-0 in the 73rd minute.
The Reds pushed for an equaliser but the best chance of the remaining 15 minutes actually fell to Newcastle as Mignolet did well to deny Remy Cabella a second. Neither side could find another goal so the home side held out to secure their forth win on the bounce.
