[Video Goals] Liverpool 1-2 Chelsea: Costa Strike Settles Things At Anfield

By on November 8, 2014

Chelsea came from a goal down to beat Liverpool 2-1 at Anfield and move seven points clear at the top of the Premier League table.

The Reds got off to the perfect start when Emre Can’s long-range effort found it’s way past Thibaut Courtois into the back of the net after taking a wicked deflection off Gary Cahill  in the ninth minute.

It didn’t take Chelsea long to equalise though as Cahill made amends when he bundled the ball home at the far post following a corner, with the goal given by the referee after using goal-line technology with Simon Mignolet doing his best to try and keep it out on the line.

Both sides pushed for a winner and that man Diego Costa proved to be the match winner as he was on hand to fire home a loose ball after Mignolet had parried Cesar Azpilicueta’s cross midway through the second half.

Liverpool couldn’t force an equaliser and Chelsea held on to move seven points clear of Southampton at the top of the table with the Merseysiders now 15 points adrift and surely out of the title race for another season.
