Man Utd Confirm Fresh Injury Blow As Key Man Speaks Out On Fitness Frustration

Manchester United have confirmed that striker Radamel Falcao has suffered a new injury set-back and is out for two weeks after after picking up a fresh injury.

Manchester United have confirmed that striker Radamel Falcao has suffered a new injury set-back after picking up a fresh injury.

Falcao has struggled to put a run of games together following his deadline day loan move from Monaco due to a number of niggling injuries and he missed United’s last three games leading up to the international break.

It had been hoped the Colombian international would return for this weekends clash with Arsenal at the Emirates, however, Louis van Gaal has confirmed to MUTV that Falcao has picked up a ‘new injury’ and will now be out for a further two weeks.

The United boss was quoted by ITV – who used a Man Utd blogger as their source – as saying that the striker’s troublesome knee injury is ‘stable’ but a calf injury is now affecting his knee which in turn is impacting on the calf.

Falcao himself has been speaking to ManUtd.com and although he’s played down reports suggesting he’s struggling to overcome the serious knee injury that he suffered back in January for parent club Monaco, the 26-year-old did admit that he’s frustrated at the constant speculation surrounding his fitness but hopes to be back on the pitch soon.

Falcao told the clubs official website:

“I am getting better, I feel well and I hope to come back to the pitch soon,

“It is disappointing that I can’t play but I have to be calm and recover because that is important to help the team when I return to the games.”

“It is a bit frustrating [reports about his knee]. Well, it is more than frustrating actually and it detracts from the credibility of the media that there is so much speculation and that so many falsehoods have been written about it.

“I think with an audience of so many millions of people, it is not right. I did take a small injury to my calf, which is something that I need to be careful with, but there are a lot of stories circulating that are pure speculation.”

The former Porto hitman is now set to not only miss Saturday’s trip to the capital to face Arsenal but also subsequent games against Hull City and Stoke City but he could be in contention to take on Southampton at St Mary’s on the 8th December.
