Chelsea extended their lead at the top of the Premier League table with a comfortable 2-0 win over West Brom at Stamford Bridge this afternoon.

The Blues opened the scoring early on when Oscar’s superb cross found Costa who calmly chested the ball down and volleyed home from 6 yards for 1-0 – although replays showed the Spaniard may have been slightly offside.

It was 2-0 shortly after when Eden Hazard fired home with a low strike that took a deflection off of Craig Gardner before finding it’s way past Ben Foster in the West Brom goal.

The visitors task became even harder when Claudio Yacob was given a straight red card for a two footed challenge on Costa in the 30th minute. To be fair to the midfielder he won the ball but both feet were off the ground so Lee Mason had no choice but to send him off.

Chelsea cruised through the second half in first gear and secured a win that sees them move seven points clear of second-placed Southampton.
