Manchester United produced a classic smash-and-grab at the Emirates as they left with all three points despite being second best against Arsenal for much of the game.

The Gunner enjoyed the vast majority of possession and were made to pay for missing some excellent first half chances when a comedy of errors led to Antonio Valencia’s shot deflecting off Kieran Gibbs and into the empty net shortly after the break.

Arsenal pushed for the equaliser but were hit on the break when Wayne Rooney raced clear to chip home for an unlikely 2-0 lead in the 85th minute. The hosts did pull one back through an excellent strike from substitute Olivier Giroud in injury time but United held on to pick up their first away win in seven months.
