Stricken Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has taken to Instagram to post a heartfelt message saying his latest injury is just another hurdle for him to overcome and he’ll be back playing again ‘soon enough’.
Sturridge has endured a hugely frustrating season with injuries restricting him to just three appearances, with his last game coming way back on August 31st when he played a key role in Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane.
The 25-year-old was set to return to action for Sunday’s trip to Crystal Palace after missing the last two-and-a-half months with thigh and calf injuries but was cruelly ruled out after picking up a fresh thigh injury in training last week.
The striker isn’t expected back in action until the New Year and it’s safe to say he’s going to be hugely missed as Brendan Rodgers side have slipped alarmingly down the Premier League table in his absence, with Sunday’s loss at Selhurst Park their fourth in succession.
Sturridge has now taken to his official Instagram page to post a message saying that his latest injury set-back is a test of his character and just another hurdle that he’s going to have to overcome. The striker went on to say he’ll be back ready to play ‘soon enough’ before thanking the fans for their support.
Rodgers said last week that Sturridge was as down as he’s seen any player so it’s good to see that he appears to be in a more positive frame of mind and that can only help in his recovery.
Have a look at Sturridge’s Instagram post below and for those who can’t see the full message, it reads:
Through all this I’m growing as a man and an athlete. Everybody goes through things in their life that can make or break them. This for me is just another hurdle to jump over. Another door to break down. I’ll be back soon enough strong and ready to play. Thanks to everyone for your support.
