[Video Highlights] Liverpool 1-0 Stoke City: Johnson The Late Hero For Reds

By on November 29, 2014

Liverpool secured a hard fought 1-0 win over Stoke City at Anfield on Saturday afternoon with Glen Johnson scoring a late winner.

The visitors more than held their own against a subdued Liverpool side and went close to opening the scoring when Bojan fired against the post midway through the second half.

However, the hosts eventually found a way through when Glen Johnson was on hand to bravely head home a loose ball in the box after Rickie Lambert’s header came back off the crossbar in the 86th minute. It was the defenders first goal of the season and he suffered a nasty cut to the top of his head for his efforts.

Stoke almost forced an equaliser but Ryan Shawcross missed a great chance in injury time when he headed wide following a corner.

The win sees Liverpool climb above Stoke into 11th place in the Premier League table, level on points with Tottenham and Everton who face each-other at White Hart Lane tomorrow.
