Liverpool take on Leicester at the King Power Stadium this evening. Here is a preview with team news, likely line-ups, prediction and betting tips

Liverpool will look to build on Saturday’s win when they take on Leicester City at the King Power Stadium this evening.

The Reds ended a hugely disappointing November on a positive note with Glen Johnson heading home a late winner to beat Stoke 1-0 at Anfield and end a run of six games without a win.

However, despite the victory, Liverpool still head into the midweek fixtures sitting eleventh in the Premier League table and have lost their last two games on the road, so Brendan Rodgers will be desperate to secure back-to-back wins in order to get their season back on track.

The good news is the Merseysiders take on a Leicester side that currently props up the table and are without a win in their last eight games after Nigel Pearson’s men lost 3-2 in a thrilling clash with QPR on Saturday.

The newly-promoted side started life back in the top flight in positive fashion but the wheels have come off in recent weeks so Pearson is going to have to start picking up wins soon if they want to avoid an immediate return to the Championship.

Team news

Rodgers is expected to recall skipper Steven Gerrard after resting him for Saturday’s win over Stoke – Joe Allen is the man most likely to make way as Lucas Leiva appears to have played his way back in to the managers plans.

Adam Lallana could also come back in to the attack but Mario Balotelli remains out with a groin problem, so with Daniel Sturridge still nursing a thigh injury, Rickie Lambert is set to start his fourth game in succession.

Kolo Toure is expected to retain his place at the expense of Dejan Lovren while Alberto Moreno could come back in at left-back. Mamadou Sakho is back in training but won’t be considered for selection just yet.

Leicester will give a late fitness test to David Nugent after he picked up an ankle injury but the striker is set to be named on the bench at best.

Matt Upson is back in full training following a lengthy absence due to a foot injury but he isn’t available for selection just yet.

Pearson is unlikely to make too many changes form the side that put in a spirited display at Loftus Road.

Likely Line-Ups

Predicted Score

Leicester 1-2 Liverpool: Rodgers will hope that Saturday’s late win will give his side confidence after a difficult spell and although I don’t expect Liverpool to be back to their free-flowing best just yet, I can see them coming away with a narrow win this evening.

Betting Tips

Liverpool are the favourites to pick up three points tonight at odds of 11/10 and a 1-2 away win is on offer at 9/1 with Betfair. Raheem Sterling looks a tempting bet at 8/1 to open the scoring but if we really want to find some value, why not combine that bet with a 2-1 Liverpool win in a scorecast which is on offer at very tempting odds of 64/1. Surely that’s got to be worth a couple of quid!?
