Pochettino Makes 2 Changes: Predicted Tottenham Starting XI To Face Chelsea

Tottenham will be hoping to continue their recent good form when they take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night. This is the side I think Mauricio Pochettino will select:

Goalkeeper: Hugo Lloris is one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League so no doubt he will start in goal for Spurs unless he picks up a late injury before kick off.

Defence: Pochettino will hand a late fitness test to Danny Rose but the defender is expected to sit this one out meaning Ben Davies will continue at left-back. Younes Kaboul was an unused substitute against Everton but even if he’s deemed 100% fit, Pochettinho may opt to stick with the pairing of Jan Vertonghen and Federico Fazio at the back. Vlad Chiriches is a major doubt after being forced off last time out but Kyle Naughton is available again having served a one-game ban. Kyle Walker played for the reserves this afternoon but isn’t in consideration for the first team just yet.

Midfield: Etienne Capoue could be pushing for a return if he proves his fitness ahead of kick off but Nabil Bentaleb may feel a little unlucky if he drops out after an impressive showing against the Toffees, so he could retain his place alongside Ryan Mason in midfield. Moussa Dembele and Paulinho will most likely have to make do with places on the bench once again.

Attack: Andros Towsend is likely to miss out through injury but Erik Lamela may get a recall in place of Aaron Lennon on the right-wing. Harry Kane should keep his place after another encouraging display against Everton, while Christian Eriksen should continue on the left as Nacer Chadli is still not 100% fit. Emmanuel Adebayor is still struggling with a back injury so Roberto Soldado should keep his place up front and will be hoping to build on his goal last time out.

So this is how I think Spurs will line-up against Chelsea:

Please not Lamela against Chelsea…..he does not and cannot defend….he loses the ball in dribbles and much of his passing goes astray….add that to his frequent poor control and poor vision…..

Why would flop Lamela get picked? All he does is run infield and lose the ball when taking on too many men.

i agree lennon sticks out wide just where he’s most effective.. no coincidence that when we have a decent wide player with pace we play the best football I’ve seen played by spurs for at least the last season..
lamella runs down blind alleys & gives the ball away.. not good enough as a luxury player either.. doesn’t deserve a place in the team.. favouritism by poch??

I think we all agree that the Llama isn’t worth a place right now for all the above reasons. The net result of this is that he slows our game up massively, and that harms us overall.

Not sure what to do him as he does need games to mature and stop making the same mistake over and again.

Both Lamela and Bentaleb should not be considered this is a man`s game LLoris Naughton Dier Fazio Vertonghen Lennon Mason Stambouli Eriksen Kane Soldado 4 x 4 x 1 x 1

keep an unchanged side, we need stability lennons defensive work cannot be underestimated, plus he could just scare the life out of the full back if he is up for it

Lennon played a blinder on Saturday, full of running and defended well too. Why would he drop him for Lamela who has yet to show anything tangible yet?

Of course Lennon starts, author just want debate and clicks (unless of course he’s abit simple)

i c entaleb has an 87% passing rate. im sure i can do better as he only can pass backwards.
