[Tweets & Photos] Rooney, Mata, De Gea & More: Players Buzzing Online After Utd Win

The likes of Juan Mata, Daley Blind, Marouane Fellaini, David De Gea and Wayne Rooney have been celebrating Man Utd’s win over Stoke online. See what they said

Manchester United closed the gap at the top of the table with a hard fought 2-1 win over Stoke City at Old Trafford on Tuesday night.

Marouane Fellaini opened the scoring in the 21st minute before Stoke levelled things up just when Steven N’Zonzi fired home a superb effort from the edge of the area shortly before half time.

However, United won it just on the hour mark when Juan Mata’s free kick from out on the right wing evaded everyone and crept into the far corner of Asmir Begovic’s net for 2-1 – although Marcos Rojo tried to claim he got the slightest of touches as it made it’s way into the net.

The win was United’s fourth in succession and cements their place in the top four while they are also now just two points behind second-placed Manchester City, so it’s easy to see why there were so many United players celebrating online after the game.

The likes of Juan Mata, Daley Blind, Ashley Young, Marouane Fellaini and David De Gea have all been on Twitter while Marcos Rojo uploaded a photo of him and Mata celebrating the winning goal to Instagram with a message that translates to read ‘great difficult game but we got the three points, @juanmatagarcia my friend!‘.

Wayne Rooney missed the game with a knee injury but took to his Facebook page this morning to congratulate his team mates on the victory – which he thinks shows the club are now finally ‘on the right track’.

See what the players have had to say on social media:

Gran partido difícil pero conseguimos los tres puntos a con mi amigo @juanmatagarcia !!!
