[Video Highlights] Liverpool 0-0 Sunderland: Reds Held At Anfield

By on December 6, 2014

Liverpool were held to a disappointing 0- 0 draw by Sunderland at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.

The visitors had an early penalty appeal waved away after Martin Skrtel appeared to catch Connor Wickham in the area. Rickie Lambert then sent a header wide following good work from Adam Lallana and Raheem Sterling also went close to opening the scoring in a goalless first 45.

There was a penalty shout for Liverpool shortly after the break when Gomez appeared to handle a cross but the referee refused to point to the spot. Philippe Coutuinho forced a decent save late on after an excellent run from Sterling but Sunderland held out to secure a well-earned point.

The draw leaves Liverpool down in ninth place in the Premier League table after 15 games.
