Chelsea will be looking to extend their lead at the top of the table when they take on Hull City at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon

The Blues saw their unbeaten start to the season come to an abrupt end with a 2-1 defeat away at Newcastle United last week so Jose Mourinho will be keen to get straight back to winning ways and cement their position at the top of the table.

Despite the loss at St James’ Park, Chelsea still hold a six point lead over second-placed Manchester City and they’ll be out to at least maintain that advantage with victory over Hull tomorrow.

The West Londoners completed the group stages of the Champions League with a 3-1 win over Sporting Lisbon on Wednesday night and with qualification as group winners already secured before kick off, Mourinho was able to rest a few of his key men.

Hull arrive in the capital on a terrible run that’s seen them take just four points from a possible 24 and they’ve never beaten Chelsea in the Premier League, so Steve Bruce has a huge task on his hands to get a positive result this weekend.

Team news

Chelsea will be without goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois after he suffered a minor injury in training, so Petr Cech will make his first Premier League appearance of the season in goal.

Playmaker Cesc Fabregas is suspended having picked up his fifth booking of the season last week so Ramires or John Obi Mikel will start in midfield.

Eden Hazard, Oscar, Willian and Branislav Ivanovic will all come back in having been rested in midweek.

Hull are expected to revert back to a back-three tomorrow which should see Curtis Davies handed a recall after being dropped for the last two games.

Gaston Ramirez has served his three-game ban so should start in attack alongside Jelavic.

Likely Line-Ups

Predicted Score

Chelsea 3-0 Hull: Last week was no doubt a small blip in what’s otherwise been an almost faultless season for the Blues and I fully expect them to get back on track with a routine victory over Hull.

Betting Tips

Chelsea are understandably the heavy favourites to pick up the three points and new customers can get enhanced odds of 3-1 on a home win tomorrow with Betfair. A 3-0 win for the Blues is on offer at 6/1 while our other tip is Eden Hazard to open the scoring at 9/2, and if we combine those two bets in a scorecast, then we get very tempting odds of 20/1. Surely that’s got to be worth a couple of quid!?
