Liverpool will be looking to get their season back on track when they take on Bournemouth in the quarter final of the Capital One Cup on Wednesday night. Here is the side I think Brendan Rodgers will select:
Goalkeeper: Rodgers made the brave call to drop under-fire goalkeeper Simon Mignolet for Sunday’s huge clash against Man Utd and although the gamble didn’t pay off, the Northern Irishman has confirmed Brad Jones will start for the foreseeable future.
Defence: Rodgers is expected to revert back to a 4-2-3-1 formation and may make a couple of changes in defence. Jose Enrique is likely to come in for Alberto Moreno while Mamadou Sakho could make his first start for nearly three months alongside Martin Skrtel. Glen Johnson is out with a groin injury so Javier Manquillo should start at right-back.
Midfield: While Rodgers has suggested he’ll go with a strong team tomorrow, we should still see the likes of Steven Gerrard and Jordan Henderson rested ahead of Sunday’s game with Arsenal with Lucas Leiva and Emre Can likely to come in having been left out against United.
Attack: Raheem Sterling has played more minutes than any outfit Liverpool player this season so we should see the youngster rested to avoid burn-out. This could open the door for Lazar Markovic to start while Rickie Lambert should come in up front with Mario Balotelli still feeling the effects of a groin injury.
Here is how I think we’ll see Liverpool line-up:
What do you think of the team and what eleven would you pick?
