By on December 16, 2014

Chelsea eased into the last four of the Capital One Cup with a 3-1 win over Derby County at Pride Park on Tuesday afternoon.

The Blues started strongly and opened the scoring in the 23rd minute when Eden Hazard cut in from the left and fired low into the bottom corner for 1-0.

The visitors then doubled their advantage when Filipe Luis curled home a stunning 25-yard free-kick just after the break but Derby pulled one back in the 70th minute when Craig Bryson fired home from the edge of the area for 1-2.

However, the hosts chances of grabbing an equaliser were dashed when Jake Buxton was sent off and Chelsea took full advantage of their extra man as Andre Schurrle added a late third after Loic Remy’s initial shot was saved.

Chelsea are now safely into the draw for the semi finals along with Sheffield United, who beat Southampton 1-0 in tonight’s other game.
