Rodgers Makes 2 Changes: Predicted Liverpool Starting XI To Face Arsenal

Liverpool will be looking to get their push for the top four back on track when they take on Arsenal at Anfield on Sunday afternoon. Here is the side we think Brendan Rodgers will select:

Goalkeeper: Rodgers has taken the brave decision to drop Simon Mignolet for the foreseeable future so Brad Jones is expected to continue in goal this weekend.

Defence: Glen Johnson has been ruled out for a month after suffering a groin injury against Manchester United last weekend. Rodgers has played three at the back in recent weeks so we expect him to do likewise on Sunday which should see Kolo Toure and Martin Skrtel retain their places. However, Dejan Lovren is a doubt after limping off against Bournemouth in midweek so Mamadou Sakho is set to come in.

Midfield: Rodgers went with Lazar Markovic on the left wing in the League Cup but I think he might recall the more defense-minded Alberto Moreno to counter Arsenal’s attacking threat, while Jordan Henderson should keep his place on the opposite flank. Lucas Leiva has been impressive since coming back into the side so should retain his spot alongside Steven Gerrard – with the skipper set to feature despite starting the last three games.

Attack: Mario Balotelli will miss the match after being slapped with a one-game ban for his controversial post on Instagram earlier this month. With Daniel Sturridge still nursing a groin injury I think we’ll see Raheem Sterling continue to lead the line with Adam Lallana and Philippe Coutinho in support.

Here is how I think we’ll see Liverpool line-up:

What do you think of the team and what eleven would you pick?
