Arsenal & Man Utd Face Fresh Competition For €40m Hitman As Rodgers Prepares Bid

Arsenal and Man Utd face fresh competition for the signature of Paulo Dybala with Liverpool expressing their interest in the highly-rated Palermo striker

With the January transfer window fast approaching managers are formalising their plans to strengthen their squads ahead of the second half of the season, so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Liverpool are ready to enter the race for Paulo Dybala.

Arsenal and Manchester United face fresh competition for the signature of Paulo Dybala with Liverpool expressing their interest in the highly-rated Palermo striker, according to reports.

Dybala has emerged as one of the hottest properties in European football after an explosive start to the season in Serie A that’s seen him score 9 times for Palermo so far this campaign.

His impressive form in front of goal has led to speculation over a potential move in January with recent reports suggesting that Arsene Wenger was eyeing a swoop for the Argentinean starlet, while Manchester United are also understood to be keen on luring the 21-year-old to the Premier League.

Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini responded to the reports by saying that it would take €40m to persuade them to sell as Dybala would be better than the likes of Lionel Messi in two years time:

“Within two years, he’s going to be better than Cristiano Ronaldo, [Lionel] Messi and [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic.”

“It would take €40m (£31m) to take him away from us. He’s the best striker in Serie A.” Zamparini is quoted as saying

It remains to be seen whether any club will be prepared to pay that sort of money for the Argentinean youngster but the Daily Star are now reporting that Liverpool are readying a bid as Brendan Rodgers looks to add to his impotent strike-force in January.

The Reds have scored just 19 goals in 16 Premier League games so far this season with Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert struggling to find consistent form in front of goal, and with Daniel Sturridge managing just three appearances due to injury, it looks like Rodgers is on the look-out for striking reinforcements with Dybala supposedly on his radar.

However, the Merseysiders may have a fight on their hands to persuade the striker to choose Anfield as Dybala recently admitted that he’d be interested in joining Arsenal.

“To know that someone like that thinks highly of me fills me with pride.

“I can’t deny that going to Arsenal and playing in the Premier League would be great, but at the moment I’m a Palermo player.” Dybala is quoted as saying by the Mirror.

The youngster certainly looks like he has a bright future ahead of him and it’s no surprise to read the likes of Arsenal, Man Utd and Liverpool are showing an interest, but I’d be shocked if any of those clubs would pay anywhere near €40m for him.

He’s only really began to hit the headlines this season and has no experience at international or European level, so for me, he has a long way to go before he can be put valued in the €40m bracket.
