With the January transfer window just around the corner managers are getting ready to strengthen their squads ahead of the second half of the season, so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Chelsea are linked with Barcelona target Malcom.

Chelsea are ready to go head-to-head with Barcelona over the signature of highly-rated Brazilian starlet Malcom, according to reports.

The teenager has emerged as one of the hottest properties in South America after breaking into the Corinthians first team last season, where he went on to make 20 appearances having come through the clubs youth ranks.

His potential has alerted several top European clubs with Barcelona among those strongly linked with a move, with speculation suggesting the Spanish giants have first refusal on the 17-year-old.

However, it looks as though Barca may now face stiff competition for the forward’s signature as the Mirror are reporting that Chelsea are now closely monitoring the players situation ahead of a potential swoop.

The West Londoners have established strong connections in South America having signed several Brazilian’s in recent years, and Malcom would link-up fellow Samba Stars Oscar, Ramires, Filipe Luis and Willian if he was to make the move to Stamford Bridge.

Much will depend on Barcelona’s plans if they do have first refusal but Chelsea should be confident of being able to persuade the youngster to opt for a switch to England if Luis Enrique’s side fail to tie up a deal.
