Burnley vs Liverpool Preview, Team News, Likely Line-Ups, Prediction & Betting Tips

Liverpool take on Burnley at Turf Moor on Friday afternoon. Here’s a preview with team news, line-up, predicted score and betting tips for the game.

Liverpool will be looking to close the gap on the top four when they take on Burnley at Turf Moor on Boxing Day.

The Reds head into the festive period sitting 10th in the Premier League table and a full nine points off fourth-placed West Ham.

However, Brendan Rodgers side will be buoyed by their last gasp effort to salvage a 2-2 draw at home to Arsenal on Sunday afternoon and will be hoping to push on and close the gap on their rivals with a win tomorrow.

Burnley come into the match sitting in the bottom three after losing 2-1 to Tottenham on Saturday but Sean Dyche was pleased with the effort his players put in at White Hart Lane and he’ll be looking for more of the game against Liverpool.

Team news

Liverpool welcome back Mario Balotelli from a one-match ban but the Italian may have to make-do with a place among the subs as Rodgers is likely to stick with Raheem Sterling up front in the absence of the injured Daniel Sturridge.

Martin Skrtel is expected to be fit despite picking up a nasty head injury that required several staples against Arsenal.

Fabio Borini is suspended so joins Joe Allen, Glen Johnson and Jon Flanagan in missing the game.

Burnley have been boosted by the return to fitness of Sam Vokes and he’s expected to be named on the bench after scoring twice for the reserves on Monday.

Matt Taylor is back in contention, but Michael Duff and Stephen Ward remain out.

Likely Line-Ups

Predicted Score

Burnley 1-2 Liverpool: There were encouraging signs against both United and Arsenal that Liverpool are starting to find some form and I think the Merseysiders will have enough to take home the three points tomorrow.

Betting Tips

Liverpool are the heavy favourites to win tomorrow but Football-Talk can get you enhanced odds of 6-1 on the Reds to win with Betfair. A 2-1 away win is also on offer at 17/2 while Sterling looks a decent bet at 5/1 to open the scoring. If we combine that with a 2-1 away win in a scorecast, then we get very tempting odds of 39/1. Surely that’s got to be worth a couple of quid!?
