Rodgers Makes 3 Changes: Predicted Liverpool Starting XI To Face Sunderland

Liverpool will be looking to get back to winning ways in the league when they take on Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Saturday. Here is the side I think Brendan Rodgers will select:

Goalkeeper: Rodgers is expected to stick with Simon Mignolet in goal as Brad Jones is still out with a thigh injury.

Defence: There was no update on the fitness of Dejan Lovren at Rodgers’ press conference this afternoon so it looks like the Northern Irishman may stick with the trio that started against AFC Wimbledon in the FA Cup on Monday night. This means Martin Skrtel is once again likely to be joined by Mamadou Sakho and Emre Can at the back – although Kolo Toure is pushing for a recall.

Midfield: Steven Gerrard played in a more advanced role last time out but the skipper could be dropped back alongside Lucas Leiva on Saturday with Jordan Henderson moving to the right wing-back role. This would see Javier Manquillo drop out while Alberto Moreno could be recalled on the left side after being left out against AFC Wimbledon. Joe Allen is close to making his comeback from injury but is unlikely to feature from the start this weekend.

Attack: Raheem Sterling is set for a recall after being rested last Monday and the attacker is likely to once again lead the front line ahead of Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert. Adam Lallana misses out with a hamstring injury so Lazar Markovic may join Philippe Coutinho in attack. Daniel Sturridge is due back in the UK tomorrow as he closes in on his injury comeback, but this game will obviously come too soon.

Here is how I think we’ll see Liverpool line-up:

What do you think of the team and what eleven would you pick?
