Man City vs Arsenal Preview, Team News, Likely Line-Ups, Prediction & Betting Tips

Manchester City take on Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Here’s a preview with team news, line-up, predicted score and betting tips.

Etihad Stadium Man City

Premier League champions Manchester City entertain Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Citizens head into the game in excellent form having drawn 3 and won 9 of their last 12 league games so Manuel Pellegrini will be keen to extend that unbeaten run tomorrow.

However, the defending champs slipped two points off the pace with a 1-1 draw away at Everton last weekend and Chelsea extended their lead at the top to five with a resounding victory over Swansea this afternoon, so City will be desperate to close the gap with a win.

Arsenal come into the game in decent form themselves having also won 9 of their last 12 in all competitions but Arsene Wenger will be looking to improve upon their disappointing record against the top teams in recent years.

The Gunners beat Stoke 3-0 win last week to keep pace with the top four but they dropped to sixth in the table after Tottenham’s win this afternoon so need to avoid defeat tomorrow to reclaim fifth from their rivals.

Team news

City will have to make do without Samir Nasri after the former Arsenal midfielder was ruled out for a month with a calf injury.

Striker Edin Dzeko is also a doubt with a shin problem but Pellegrini is confident skipper Vincent Kompany will be fit to start.

Sergio Aguero is almost certain to start up front after making his comeback off the bench last week against Everton.

Arsenal will be without Mathieu Debuchy after he was ruled out for three months with a dislocated shoulder so Calum Chambers or Hector Bellerin will deputise at right-back.

Mikel Arteta has also been ruled out for three months with an ankle injury and he’s joined on the sidelines by Danny Welbeck, with the striker still nursing a thigh problem.

Kieran Gibbs faces a late fitness test on a heel injury but Jack Wilshere is still out with an ankle injury.

Likely Line-Ups

Predicted Score

Man City 2-1 Arsenal: Both sides come into the game in decent form but City are strong at home and I think Pellgrini’s men will just edge this one tomorrow.

Betting Tips

Man City are the favourites to win this game and thanks to Football-Talk you can get enhanced odds of 5/1 on a home win, or a staggering 10/1 on a Gunners victory with Betfair while you can also win £100 worth of free bets. A 2-1 win for City is on offer at 17/2 while I also like the look of Sergio Aguero to open the scoring at 4/1. If we combine those two bets in a scorecast then we get very tempting odds of 25/1. Surely that’s got to be worth a couple of quid!?
