Arsenal put in a superb all-round display to beat Premier League champions Manchester City 2-0 at the Etihad this afternoon. Here are player ratings for the Gunners from Gooner Mac:
Ospina 7/10 | Kept his place ahead of Szczesny and didn’t put a foot wrong. Wasn’t called into action too much but made a couple of routine stops.
Bellerin 8/10 | His pace was a real asset and was solid at the back. He did keep wandering too far forward during the last 20 minutes though when he should have been concentrating on defending.
Mertesacker 7.5/10 | Reasonably comfortable afternoon for the big German. Kept things tight at the back.
Koscielny 7.5/10 | Did well to keep Sergio Aguero quiet and as always on hand to snuff out any danger from the hosts.
Monreal 8/10 | Another very useful performance from the Spaniard. Showed some good footwork to win the penalty and solid at the back.
Coquelin 9/10 | Excellent all-round display. Sat and protected the back four, made several interceptions and was useful on the ball. He’s been a real revelation.
Ramsey 7.5/10 | His first start in over five weeks so understandable he was rusty. His tough let him down on occasion but still worked hard for the team.
Oxlade-Chamberlain 7/10 | His pace and direct running caused City problems but he lacked a final ball at times.
Cazorla 9.5/10 | Outstanding. One of the most complete performances in recent memory. He scored his penalty well, set up Giroud’s goal and put himself about to break up play and set up counter-attacks. MOTM
Alexis 8/10 | Another tireless display from the Chilean, but he failed to make a real impact in the final third.
Giroud 8/10 | Lovely headed goal and his hold-up play was superb.
Rosicky 7/10 | A
Gibbs & Flamini N/A
