Man Utd To Open Talks Over Deal For €65m Hitman Who ‘Favours’ Arsenal Move
Manchester United are ready to open talks with Paris Saint-Germain over a potential €65m deal to sign Edinson Cavani but the striker ‘favours’ a move to Arsenal
With the January transfer in full swing, managers are strengthening their squads ahead of the second half of the season, so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Man Utd are ready to move for Arsenal target Edinson Cavani….
Manchester United are ready to open talks with Paris Saint-Germain over a potential deal to sign unsettled striker Edinson Cavani, according to reports.
Cavani’s future at PSG has come under increasing scrutiny in recent weeks after he was disciplined for arriving back late from the winter break which meant he missed the clubs mid-season training camp in Morocco.
The Uruguayan international was subsequently left out of the French champions next two games by Laurent Blanc with the French boss slamming the striker for showing a “total lack of respect towards the club”.
The uncertainty has led to speculation linking Arsenal and Manchester United with a move for the 27-year-old in recent weeks with both Arsene Wenger and Louis van Gaal understood to be keen on offering Cavani a new start in England.
However, it appears United are now ready to steal a march on their rivals as the Metro are reporting that the Red Devils are ready to re-open talks with PSG with the aim of wrapping-up a €65m (£50m) deal ahead of a summer move.
PSG have already made it clear Cavani wont be sold this month so it appears United are keen to get a deal agreed soon for the Uruguayan to arrive at the end of the season, and his signing would surely mean that van Gaal decides not to make Radamel Falcoa’s loan move permanent.
Falcao has struggled with form and fitness since arriving from Monaco last summer so unless he starts to impress during the final months of the season, it’s likely the Colombian be going back to France and Cavani would be a sensational replacement.
However, United may have some persuading to do as reports earlier this week suggested that Cavani had already chosen Arsenal as his preferred next destination when he eventually leaves the Parc des Prince.
It remains to be seen whether that turns out to be the case, and even if Cavani does favour a move to the Emirates, there’s no guarantee Arsene Wenger will come to an agreement with PSG, so there’s still every chance for United.
One things for sure, Cavani would be an excellent coup for whoever ends up signing him in the summer and I’d love to see him come to the Premier League as he has all the attributes to be a real hit in English football.
