Rodgers Makes 5 Changes: Predicted Liverpool Starting XI To Face Chelsea

Liverpool will be looking to book their place in the final of the Capital One Cup when they take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday evening. Here is the side I think Brendan Rodgers will select:

Goalkeeper: Rodgers has little option but to stick with Simon Mignolet in goal as Brad Jones is still out with a thigh injury.

Defence: The Reds boss is certain to recall Martin Skrtel after resting the Slovakian for Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Bolton. Glen Johnson is the man most likely to make way with Skrtel lining-up alongside Mamadou Sakho and Emre Can in a back-three that’s been Rodgers first choice in recent weeks.

Midfield: Steven Gerrard is also certain to be recalled after being given a breather at the weekend and he could play alongside Lucas Leiva in the middle of the park. Jordan Henderson could therefore start on the right to offer some more protection against the dangerous Eden Hazard. Alberto Moreno is likely to come in for Jose Enrique on the left side.

Attack: With Henderson on the right, it will allow Lazar Markovic to move into a more natural advanced role with Adam Lallana likely to drop out after a disappointing display at the weekend. Philippe Coutinho should keep his place and support Raheem Sterling in attack. Daniel Sturridge could be back in the squad if he proved his fitness to Rodgers today but the best he’s likely to hope for is a place on the bench.

Here is how I think we’ll see Liverpool line-up:
