Man Utd vs Burnley Preview, Team News, Likely Line-Ups, Prediction & Betting Tips
Man Utd will be looking close in on the top two when they play Burnley at Old Trafford tonight. Here’s a preview with team news, line-ups and predicted score.
Manchester United will be looking to move back into the top four when they entertain Burnley at Old Trafford this evening.
The Red Devils were held to a 1-1 draw at West Ham on Sunday afternoon and dropped down to fifth in the Premier League table after Arsenal beat Leicester City on Tuesday night.
However, United can leapfrog the Gunners and regain their top four position with a win tonight, and could even reclaim third if Southampton fail to beat the Hammers at St Mary’s.
Louis van Gaal should be confident of collecting all three points as United have the second-best home record in the division and they face a Burnley side that arrive in Manchester sitting second bottom in the Premier League.
Sean Dyche’s men blew a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 at home to West Bromwich Albion on Sunday and dropped to 19th after last night’s results, but they can move level on points with 17th-placed QPR if they avoid defeat this evening.
United have no fresh injury worries to contend with meaning Michael Carrick is the only injury absentee as he continues to nurse a muscle injury.
However, van Gaal will have to make at least one change to his defence as Luke Shaw is suspended following his late dismissal at Upton Park.
Burnley have been dealt a huge blow with Dean Marney ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury so Michael Kightly could come in to the midfield.
Otherwise, Dyche is expected to stick with the same starting eleven that he’s picked for his last ten games in a row.
Man Utd 3-0 Burnley: United were well below par at West Ham on Sunday but they should be a whole different proposition at Old Trafford and I can’t see Burnley being able to cope with the hosts this evening.
Man Utd are the heavy favourites to win the game with best odds of 3/10 but thanks to Football-Talk, new customers can get enhanced odds of 3/1 on a United win with Betfair while you can also win £100 worth of free bets. A 3-0 win is on offer at 15/2 and I fancy Robin van Persie to open the scoring at odds of 16/5. If we combine those bets in a scorecast then we get very tempting odds of 16/1. Surely that’s got to be worth a couple of quid!?
