[Extended Highlights] Chelsea 1-0 Everton: Late Willian Strike Sinks Toffees

By on February 11, 2015

Willian scored a last minute winner to secure Chelsea a 1-0 victory over Everton at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.

Jose Mourinho’s men looked to be heading for a frustrating draw when Branislav Ivanovic deflected Nemanja Matic’s long range effort past Tim Howard in the 85th minute for what looked like a late winner.

It seemed like it wasn’t going to be the league leaders night as the linesman correctly ruled the goal out for offside as Ivanovic was standing in an offside position when the ball was struck.

However, just minutes later Willian did find a way through as he lashed home a right-footed effort from the edge of the area which took a slight deflection to nestle in Howard’s near post for 1-0.

The victory ensures Chelsea remain seven points clear of second placed Manchester City after they beat Stoke 4-1 at the Britannia Stadium.
