Arsenal To Hold Formal Talks Over Deal For €40m-Rated Chelsea Target

Arsenal are set to hold talks with Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini in London this week over a potential deal for €40m-rated Chelsea target Paulo Dybala

The January transfer window is now closed but that won’t stop the newspapers from speculating ahead of the summer so we’ll bring you all the news and gossip. Today, Arsenal are ready to battle Chelsea for Paulo Dybala….

Arsenal are set to hold formal talks with Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini in London this week over a potential deal for €40m-rated Chelsea target Paulo Dybala, according to reports.

Dybala has emerged as one of the hottest properties in European football after an excellent season in Serie A that’s seen him score 11 times and set up six others in 17 appearances for Palermo so far this campaign.

His impressive form in front of goal has led to speculation of a big money move this summer and Palmero president Maurizio Zamparini revealed last week that Chelsea, Juventus and PSG are among the clubs who have already made offers for the 21-year-old hitman.

The outspoken president also confirmed that he’ll sell Dybala at the end of the season after the player rejected a three-year contract extension worth €9m-a-season.

“I will sell him, I am almost certain of this,”

“(Juventus general director Giuseppe) Marotta told me that they are very interested in the player.

“They (Juve) are ready to negotiate. I have warned Marotta already that I’ve had so many offers for Dybala from half of the teams in Europe. Chelsea, PSG and other English and Spanish clubs.”

“We had an agreement with Dybala for 9million (euros a year) but the next day everything changed,”

“I was told that Dybala would no longer sign and that he now wanted up to 15million (euros) in wages. No way!”

“This is the fault of those that surround him. They have made him lose all sense of reality.

“I had treated him like a son having spent 12million euros to acquire him. I will not speak to Dybala again. I will appoint a company to negotiate Dybala’s sale.”

Zamparini is quoted as saying by Sky Sports

However, it appears another name is about to throw their hat into the ring as the Metro cite reports coming out of Italy that claim Arsenal are also keen on luring Dybala to the Premier League this summer and will hold talks with Zamparini in London this week.

Arsene Wenger has plenty of forwards at his disposal but it seems the French boss is keen to add to his options and the report even suggests that the Gunners could be considered as the favourites for Dybala’s signature.

The young Argentinean striker is certainly a huge talent and despite the fact he’ll have just 12 months left to run on his contract this summer, it’s reported that Palermo will demand a fee of around €40m (£30m) for his signature.

It remains to be seen whether Arsenal or Chelsea will agree to match that valuation but Palermo will probably find a club willing to in today’s over-inflated market, despite the fact it’s a huge sum for a player that’s only really performed at the highest level for 18 months.

However, Dybala is one of the most exciting young attackers in world football so it  would be a major coup if either Arsenal or Chelsea were able to land him, but we’ll have wait and see who wins the race for his signature this summer.
