Arsenal have it all to do to remain in the Champions League after a hugely disappointing 3-1 defeat to Monaco at the Emirates this evening.
With half time approaching and the score still at 0-0, Monaco silenced the home crowd as Geoffrey Kondogbia was given too much space and the French youngster’s long-range strike deflected off Per Mertesacker giving David Ospina no chance.
Monaco then doubled their advantage just after half time when Dimitar Berbatov finished off a ruthless counter attack to make it 2-0 in the 53rd minute before substitute Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain gave the Gunners hope as he curled home a lovely effort from the edge of the area in the 91st minute.
However, the visitors went straight up the other end and restored their two-goal cushion through Yannick Carrasco to leave us with a mountain to climb in the second leg if we’re to qualify for the quarter finals for the first time in five years.
