Man Utd Handed Major Boost As €48m-Rated Target Drops Huge Hint Over Move

Manchester United have been handed a major boost as Mats Hummels has dropped a major hint that he’ll look for a move away from Borussia Dortmund this summer

The January transfer window is now closed but that won’t stop the newspapers from speculating ahead of the summer so we’ll bring you all the news and gossip. Today, Mats Hummels drops a huge hint he’s set to leave Borussia Dortmund….

Manchester United have been handed a major boost as Mats Hummels has dropped a major hint that he’ll look for a move away from Borussia Dortmund at the end of the season, according to reports today.

Hummels has been with Dortmund since joining the club from Bayern Munich in 2009 and has gone on to establish himself as one of the clubs key players during his 240 appearances so far.

However, the 26-year-old has been strongly linked with a move away from the Westfalonstadion following Dortmund’s hugely disappointing season that saw them sit bottom of the Bundesliga table back in December.

The former German champions have recovered in recent weeks but they still sit 10th in the table and are highly unlikely to qualify for the Champions League next season.

Manchester United have long been linked with a move for Hummels and the Mirror claim Louis van Gaal has made the €48m-rated defender a key target ahead of another summer of significant investment at Old Trafford.

Until now, Hummels has remained coy over his future, but the centre-back has given United a boost after admitting that he’s considering leaving Dortmund and is keen on trying his luck in a new country.

The German international hasn’t made a firm decision over what he’ll do yet but dropped a major hint that he’ll look for a new challenge after saying that he wants to play in a ‘strong’ team.

“I have had many conversations with the leaders of Dortmund, where I know I am a big part of the team. But I am yet to make a decision about my future.

“Basically… I think moving abroad will be good for my professional and personal well-being. Eventually, I’d like to leave the Bundesliga.”

“I’m being open about this because I’m not a fan of those who claim they are staying but, behind the scenes, have actually secretly agreed a transfer away from their current club.”

“I will do what is best for my career and what I would like to do. Everyone knows how much I love it at Dortmund, but I also want to make sure I’m part of a strong team with powerful players.

“Whether we are in the Champions League, the Europa League or have no European football at all, it will play no part in my decision-making.” Hummels is quoted as saying by the Mirror.

I’m sure Dortmund will be desperate to keep hold of their captain but with the club struggling in mid-table this season, it appears Hummels is ready to move on and test himself abroad if the right offer comes along.

van Gaal certainly needs to bring in a dominant centre-back this summer if he wants to build a side capable of challenging for top honours next season and Hummels would be a sensational addition if he could pull it off.

There aren’t many better defenders in European football, as he proved over in Brazil last summer where he led Germany to become World Champions, so I’m sure the Red Devils will be keeping a close eye on his situation over the coming weeks ahead of a potential summer swoop.
