Chelsea Ready To Hijack Arsenal’s Deal With €40m Bid For 29-Goal Striker

Chelsea are ready to try and hijack Arsenal’s attempts to sign Gonzalo Higuain by launching a rival €40m bid for the Napoli strikers signature.

As the opening of the summer transfer window approaches, managers are working hard identifying targets and lining-up potential deals so we’ll bring you all the news and gossip. Today, Chelsea are ready to make their move for Gonzalo Higuain….

Chelsea are ready to try and hijack Arsenal’s attempts to sign Gonzalo Higuain by launching a rival €40m bid for the Napoli striker’s signature, according to reports today.

Higuain’s future in Serie A is in serious doubt after Napoli’s failure to qualify for the Champions League and the striker has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League in recent weeks.

Reports emerging from Italy on Friday claimed that Arsenal had made first contact with the players camp and offered a four-year deal worth €6m net per season, with the North Londoners testing Napoli’s resolve with a €40m (£29.1) bid.

However, it looks like the Gunners could now face stiff competition for Higuain’s signature as the Metro are citing reports coming out of Spain which claim that Chelsea are ready to launch a rival €40m bid of their own.

Blues boss Jose Mourinho is on the look out for a new front-man to replace Didier Drogba and the Portuguese coach knows Higuain well from their time together at Real Madrid.

It’s difficult to know how much truth there is behind all these reports but if Higuain is looking for a new challenge, then you’d expect the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea to be showing a keen interest as he’s one of the deadliest finishers in the game.

The Argentinean international bagged 29 goals in 58 appearances for Napoli last season making it 192 goals in 407 games throughout the course of his career, so he’s obviously knows where the goal is.

Many feel Arsenal are a top class finisher away from being genuine title challengers so Higuain could make all the difference for Arsene Wenger’s side if they manage to lure him to the Emirates this summer.

However, with news of an impending bid from champions Chelsea, it looks like it’s going to be an interesting battle to see who wins the race for the 27-year-old hot-shot.
