[Video Highlights] Stoke 0-1 Liverpool: Late Coutinho Stunner Sinks Potters

Philippe Coutinho scored a late stunner to secure Liverpool a 1-0 victory over Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium today.

It was a rather subdued start and there were few clear cut chances during the first half as the sides went into the break level at 0-0. Glen Johnson perhaps had the best chance during the opening 45 minutes but sent his shot high over the bar.

A Charlie Adam free-kick then nearly caught Simon Mignolet out while the hosts were also showing their threat in the air, but both sides continue to search for the opener.

With full-time almost up, Joe Gomez cut in from the left and found Coutinho who drove towards the area before rifling a superb effort into the top corner from 25-yards in the 85th minute.

Stoke couldn’t find a way back so Liverpool secured the three points and avenged the 6-1 humiliation they received on the final day of last season.
