Manchester United Table £36m Bid For French Hitman
Manchester United have tabled a £36m bid for Monaco hitman Anthony Martial as Louis van Gaal tries to bring in another striker before the transfer closes.
With the summer transfer window approaching it’s climax, managers are working hard trying to strengthen their squads for the new season so we’ll bring you all the news and gossip. Today, Man Utd are linked with Anthony Martial….
Manchester United have tabled a £36m bid for Monaco hitman Anthony Martial as Louis van Gaal tries to bring in another striker before the transfer closes, according to the Mirror.
United have managed to score just three Premier League goals so far this season with main striker Wayne Rooney yet to get off the mark domestically.
There have also been rumours that Javier Hernandez will leave the club before Tuesday’s 6pm deadline which would leave James Wilson as van Gaal’s only other recognised forward to choose from.
So it comes as no surprise to hear the Dutchman is in the market for another striker before the window closes and it looks like the United boss may have cast his eye across the channel.
The Mirror are citing reports coming from French outlet RMC which claim that United have opened talks with Monaco over a potential deal for highly-rated forward Anthony Martial.
The newspaper suggests that the Red Devils have tested the Ligue 1 giants resolve with a stunning €50m (£36.3m) offer and while no decision has been made as yet, negotiations are believed to be ongoing between the two clubs.
Martial burst on to the scene in 2013 and has developed into one of the most highly-rated young talents in France with the teenager a regular in their Under-21 squad, and it appears van Gaal is now trying to lure him to Old Trafford during the next two days.
The 19-year-old is predominantly a centre forward but he’s also capable of playing on either the left or right wing, so he’d certainly give United plenty of options in attack if they are able to secure a deal.

Martial may not be the big-name signing that United fans have been expecting and at £36m+ he’d be a huge gamble, but the youngster does have bags of ability and may turn out to be an astute signing if van Gaal could pull it off.
We’ll have to see how things develop but time is running out and it looks like it could yet be a busy couple of days at Old Trafford.
