Man Utd To Monitor German Super Star Ahead Of Summer Swoop
Man Utd are going to monitor Marco Reus over the coming season and may use Adnan Januzaj as bait to land him after letting him join Borussia Dortmund on loan
With the summer transfer window now closed for business, it’s time to start looking at those deals that failed to get over the line and those which are being lined-up for the future. Today, Man Utd are linked with Marco Reus…
Manchester United are going to monitor Marco Reus over the coming season and may use Adnan Januzaj as bait to land the German attacker after letting him join Borussia Dortmund on loan, according to the Mirror.
United surprisingly allowed Januzaj to head out on loan last week with Louis van Gaal deciding to send the Belgian youngster to continue his development at Dortmund over the next 12 months.
The 20-year-old had started the season well and scored the winner during a 1-0 win over Aston Villa last month so many were left wondering why he was allowed to leave Old Trafford this summer.
However, the Mirror claim that the move could be part of a longer-term plan to land Dortmund star Marco Reus – who they say has been on United’s radar for the last two years.
The newspaper suggests that van Gaal will send his scouts to keep a close eye on Reus this season and may then use Januzaj as bait to try and land the attacker next summer.
Reus has developed into one of the best forwards in European football during his time with Dortmund and has scored 59 goals and provided 46 assists in 129 appearances.
So it’s no surprise the Mirror claim van Gaal is a big admirer and it looks like the Dutchman is now gearing up to launch a move for the German international.
He’s be a sensational signing if United were able to pull it off and he’s capable of playing anywhere across the front three positions, as well as up front, so he’d give van Gaal plenty of options in attack.
However, I think Dortmund will do all they can to keep hold of him and the 26-year-old only signed a new four-year deal back in February so the Bundesliga outfit are under no immediate pressure to sell.

We’ll have to see how things develop over the coming months but I’d personally love to see a player of Reus’ quality in the Premier League next season, so fingers crossed United are able to get a deal done if they do make a formal swoop next summer.
